The Castle Estate
(Bolsover)

Richard Haigh has been a Community Organiser on the Castle Estate since July, 2014 – listening to what residents love about where they live and also to what concerns they have too.

The Castle Estate, which is affectionately known by the Bolsover residents as the 'Wimps' (because it was built, in the 1950s, by George Wimpey, the construction company) lies just underneath the beutiful Bolsover Castle and many homes have great views of not only the Castle but the area surrounding.

Information gathered from knocking on doors, chatting to people at meetings and the “Have Your Say” Events have informed the Castle Estate Profile and Action Plans. Actions are currently being taken by the Castle Estate Residents Group, in partnership with appropriate agencies, to tackle their priorities :-

  1. A community Hub
  2. Reducing fuel poverty on the Castle Estate in partnetship with Eon and the BDC
  3. Enviroment, state of the estate

If you have an idea for a project or event or simply want to know more or get involved, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Groups write up and links

The Castle Estate Residents Group comprises over 20 active members who meet monthly to tackle issues affecting residents on the Castle Estate.

The three main issues affecting residents on the Castle Estate are listed below and the CERG have a plan in place for the the next 12 months to tackle these issues:-

  1. A community Hub
  2. Reducing fuel poverty on the Castle Estate in partnetship with Eon and the BDC, (questionaire)
  3. Enviroment, state of the estate

The AGM held on the 13th April, photos shown above, was attended by 20 residents, with 2 applogise, 4 of which were new. The Chairs speech laid out the plan for the next 12 months, discussed over the previous few months, and the Treasurers speech laid out how we intend to finance the positive changes we have planned for the estate.

We have 2 Vice Chairs, a Treasurer and a Social Media officer but need a Chair and Secretary to complete the formal executive committee. If you are interested then please contact Richard Haigh on the following -
